High-flying Sky & Co look to dominate SA in second T20I

Mullanpur: India will aim to extend their supremacy as they take on South Africa in the second T20I at New Chandigarh on Thursday. Following a comprehensive series-opening win, India’s combination of aggressive batting, disciplined bowling, and depth in the lineup makes them clear favourites to maintain control on home soil.

Hardik Pandya starred in the first match, scoring a rapid 59 off 28 balls and making an immediate impact with the ball. Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh provided early breakthroughs, ensuring South Africa never recovered. With a deep batting order extending to number eight, India has multiple options to accelerate scoring and maintain pressure throughout the innings. The team is unlikely to tinker with a winning combination, further reinforcing their advantage.

Shubman Gill, yet to find consistent form in T20s since his Asia Cup comeback, remains a focal point at the top of the order. India’s management has shown patience with him, keeping him in the playing eleven despite lacklustre returns. If Gill can finally convert starts into substantial innings, it will add significant firepower alongside the in-form Abhishek Sharma, India’s No 1 T20I batter, and other dependable options. Captain Suryakumar Yadav, after a year of patchy form, will also be keen to provide stability and momentum as India build toward their World Cup defence at home.

South Africa, still reeling from their 74-run collapse in the first match, face a tough challenge. With little time to dwell on their defeat, the visitors must improve partnerships and momentum, but India’s well-rounded lineup, fearless approach, and favorable conditions at New Chandigarh make a comeback extremely difficult.
