Goa fall short by 12 runs against Maharashtra

Panaji: Goa suffered a 12-run defeat against Maharashtra in their final league match of the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy Elite at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium in Surat.

Chasing 142, Goa finished on 129/6 in their 20 overs despite a fighting unbeaten 52 from Shreya Parab. The batter struck six boundaries in her 47-ball innings but lacked sufficient support to take Goa across the line.

Harshita Yadav contributed 20, while Purvaja Verlekar and Shikha Pandey scored 17 each. Maharashtra’s bowlers kept the chase in check, with six different bowlers claiming a wicket apiece.

Earlier, Maharashtra posted 141/7 after being put to bat. Shweta Mane provided the late impetus with an unbeaten 36 off 21 balls, while Mukta Magre scored 34 and captain Tejas Hasabnis added 29 off 21 deliveries.

For Goa, Tejaswini Durgad and Sunanda Yetrekar picked up two wickets each, while Shikha Pandey and Metali Gawander claimed one apiece.
