He scored a perfect 5/5 to finish on top; Chetan takes 2nd place

Ponda : Siddhiraj Gaunkar emerged champion at the   Tournament, scoring a perfect five points out of five in the event organised as part of the SMG Mahotsav in association with the Directorate of Art & Culture and Ponda Taluka Chess Association.

Chetan Kurtikar finished runner-up, while Mithil Naik secured third place. Reyansh Kurtikar and Shivam Satarkar completed the top five, finishing fourth and fifth respectively. Hitendra Satarkar placed sixth.

In the category of promising players, Sarthak Gaonkar, Swaroop Vagonkar and Yashasvi Velkaskar were recognised for their performances.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Ponda Taluka Chess Association president Sagar Sacordekar, Satarkar Mahasangh-Goa president Prashant Mainekar, deputy labour inspector Satish Vagonkar, chief arbiter Anand Kurtikar and other dignitaries.
