They edge past Immaculate Conception HS 1-0

Margao: St Anne’s Institute, Agonda were crowned South Goa U-17 girls champions after edging past Immaculate Conception High School, Paroda 1-0 in the final of the U17 girls organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs DSYA.

The match remained goalless at half-time with both sides creating equal opportunities and displaying disciplined defending. St. Anne’s eventually broke the deadlock in the dying minutes through Gwyneth Fernandes, who dribbled past a defender before calmly finishing to seal the title.

Immaculate Conception’s Aaisha posed constant danger with her attacking runs, while St. Anne’s goalkeeper Aayushi Pagui produced crucial saves to keep her side in the contest. Gwyneth had earlier been denied on multiple occasions by the rival goalkeeper before finding the decisive breakthrough.
