St Xavier’s College clinch women’s inter-collegiate volleyball title

St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa emerged champions of the Women’s Inter-Collegiate Volleyball Championship 2025-26 after a composed 3-1 victory over Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College of Arts & Commerce, Pernem at the University Ground, Taleigao in the final.

Earlier in the semifinals, Sant Sohirobanath College outplayed Carmel College of Arts, Science & Commerce for
Women, Nuvem 3-1 to book their final berth, while St Xavier’s stormed past GVM’s Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College of Commerce and Economics, Farmagudi in straight sets (3-0), underlining their title credentials.

Gauri Shetgaonkar of St Xavier’s was adjudged Best Player in the women’s category, capping off a standout campaign.

A total of 28 women’s teams participated in the championship, highlighting the growing competitiveness of collegiate volleyball in the state.

The presentation ceremony was graced by Satyavan Harmalkar, along with Sushant Haldankar and Balachandra B. Jadar.
