Navelim Villagers Union advanced to the quarterfinals after a 1-0 over Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda in the 27th Our Lady of Merces Cup organised by Sirlim SC at Chinchinim.
The teams were locked at 0-0 at half-time before Sweedon
Costa broke the deadlock in the 40th minute, with his solitary strike proving enough to hand Navelim Villagers the victory.
Earlier, the tournament was officially kicked
off by Fr Jervino Fernandes, while Fr Clive Dinis was the guest of honour for the match.
