Panaji: The Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department has issued a stop-work order to Worldwide Resorts and Entertainment Pvt Ltd, directing the company to immediately halt construction activities on its hotel project at Bambolim, Tiswadi taluka.

The order was issued following a complaint by Revolutionary Goans Party MLA Viresh Borkar, who alleged that the project proponent had violated key construction conditions.

According to the department, technical clearance for the proposed hotel building was granted on March 26, 2024. However, the proponent allegedly commenced construction without securing the mandatory environmental clearance, in violation of the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) Notification, 2006.

“It is observed that you have undertaken construction activities without obtaining prior environmental clearance as prescribed under the Environment Impact Assessment Notification, 2006, and therefore you have violated the condition as stipulated in the technical clearance order dated March 26, 2024,” the TCP Department said in its notice to the company.

The department further confirmed that it had received a directive from the government on April 30, to stop the construction with immediate effect due to non-compliance with the stipulated conditions.
