Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar says state has achieved one of lowest AT&C losses

Panaji: Power Minister Ramakrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar said that the state’s next target is to achieve complete automation of its power network by introducing SCADA and substation automation systems. He also said Goa will focus on tapping renewable energy sources and meeting future targets.

Dhavalikar was speaking at a Power Ministerial Meet held alongside the Bharat Electricity Summit, chaired by Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

“Goa has achieved one of the lowest AT&C losses in India and has met its target of converting 50 per cent of high-tension overhead lines into underground cabling,” he said.

The Distribution Utilities Rating (DUR) for DISCOMs for 2024–25 was also released at the meeting, with Goa securing third place nationally.

Dhavalikar said this achievement was due to the planned and structured functioning of the Electricity Department, which has implemented several infrastructure development and modernisation projects.

He was also a keynote speaker at the session titled ‘Unified Power for a New India – Aligning Centre-State Strategies for Power Transition and Acceleration’. During the discussion, he spoke about the state’s role in energy transition and the challenges faced by smaller states in adopting renewable energy, along with possible solutions.

Dhavalikar also held meetings with central government officials to discuss issues related to the state, in the presence of Minister of State for Power Shripad Naik and other Electricity Department officials.
