Vasco: Two young men were killed after the scooter they were travelling  on was struck from behind by a taxi at Adoulem, Cuelim, on Sunday.

The Verna police said both vehicles were travelling along the same route.

They were travelling from Jubilate hall towards Three Kings’ Way hall at 5:30 pm. While negotiating a turn, the scooter rider reportedly lost control, which caused the vehicle to skid and collide with the front right side of the taxi coming from behind at Adoulem, Cuelim.

The impact of the collision resulted in severe injuries to  the rider and the pillion rider, who succumbed shortly after the crash.

The taxi was driven by Thomas Peter Vaz (41), a resident of Cansaulim. The scooter was ridden by Venkatesh Basari (24), while  Rakesh Sankapanavar (26) was riding pillion.

Both victims were originally from Bagalkot district in Karnataka and were residing in Sancoale for work.

The police  registered a case in the accident. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
