The ‘Swaranjali’ music festival, organised by Geet Shakun Parivar in association with the Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Goa, will be held on July 26, at the Institute Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji.
The festival, held in memory of Padma Vibhushan Gangubai Hangal and Gaanasaraswati Kishori Amonkar, will also pay tribute to late Prasad Sawkar and Goan santoor artiste Naresh Madgaokar.
The programme will be inaugurated at 3.30 p.m. in the presence of chairman, Samarth International and Hede Business Group, Prafulla Hede. The chief guest will be founder and chairman, Dempo Vision Group, Rajesh V Dempo. The guests of honour include performer and singer, Shekhar Sawkar and performer, Balaji Bhat. Advocate Dipali Talwar (Mumbai) and Balaji Bhat, will make a special presentation.
The first session will include a santoor duet by Aarna Madgaokar and Shraddhey Mayekar in memory of Naresh Madgaokar.
Aarna began learning the instrument at the age of seven under the guidance of her father, Naresh, and has performed at various platforms across India. Mayekar, who initially trained in tabla, later learned santoor from Naresh and continues his training under Dhananjay Daithankar.
The second session, ‘Gaanasaraswati Ke Bol’, will include a talk by advocate Talwar on Kishori Amonkar’s musical journey, followed by a vocal recital by writer and poet,
Shakuntala Bharne.
The concluding sessions will include performances by Pradip Sarmokadam, a disciple of Prasad Sawkar, and Vinod Digrajkar, Sawkar’s ‘gurubandhu’ (co-disciple). Sarmokadam has performed in Goa and other states. Digrajkar, an All India Radio ‘Top’ grade classical vocalist, has received training from Nivruttibuwa Sarnaik and Jitendra Abhisheki.
The artistes will be accompanied by harmonium players Gopal Prabhu, Subhash Fatarpekar, and Sudhanshu Kulkarni and tabla players Kaustubh Chari, Mrunal Parab, Rohidas Parab, Nitin Korgaonkar, and Uday Kulkarni.
The festival is open to all.
