If you are crib hopping in Panaji during the Christmas season, one popular pit stop is Roncon’s mechanised crib in St Inez

KALYANI JHA| NT BUZZ

Ladislau Roncon from Panaji grew up watching his father making cribs during the
Christmas season.

While his father used to make small mechanised cribs inside the home, Roncon decided to go bigger and improve upon these Christmas depictions. He has now been making mechanised cribs for over
a decade.

“Mostly, other cribs are more traditional and simple. But I have used mechanical technology to make my crib look more lively and interesting,” says Roncon. This crib is displayed in his garden during the Christmas season.

“We have a different scene and theme every year for people to visit and see. We use electrical gadgets and circuits and all kinds of eco-friendly materials in making this crib,” he shares, adding that it took him almost a month to complete.

This crib is created without any financial support from anyone. “Sometime, we also encounter bad weather for which the crib needs extra protection,” he says.

Through his crib, Roncon hopes to spread the message of peace, joy, and happiness and wants people to know the real story and meaning about Christmas. Happy with the response he has received from the public, he is glad to be contributing in spreading the Christmas spirit.
