Calangute: Thousands of tourists ‘invaded’ Candolim, Calangute and Baga beaches on New Year’s eve to mark the beginning of the New Year 2025.
Several were with their family members and friends as they prepared thenselves to usher in the New Year soaked in the beauty of seashore. As the Sun began setting, more and more crowd gathered on the warm silky sand and watched tranformation of the sky above.
Earlier in the day, tourists were seen walking towards the Calangute beach after deboarding at Bodkeavhod junction since morning.
All the parking spaces made available in view of the celebration were full with all outstation vehicles.
The vehicles moving along the Calangute beach road and Baga beach road had to move at snail’s pace with chock-a-block traffic with even the 2-wheelers finding it difficult to move ahead.
The road leading to Candolim-Sinquerim was also congested with the vehicle taking hours to reach their final destination on the beach.
Calangute sarpanch Joseph Sequeira, made all out effort to provide ample parking space for the tourist vehicles and for smooth traffic movement.
However, despite the best efforts, the outstation vehicles couldn’t be accommodated and were seen doing rounds in search of parking spaces.
