Following the spat between Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude and MGP chief Pandurang ‘Deepak’ Dhavalikar over contesting the 2027 Goa assembly election from Priol constituency, the Bharatiya Janata Party is now facing another such dispute between its Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar and its former legislator Manohar Azgaonkar.

The spat between Gaude and Dhavalikar of the MGP, which is an alliance partner in the Sawant government, prompted the BJP to ask Dhavalikar to refrain from making controversial statements in public.

Now, following statements by Azgaonkar that he will be contesting the 2027 state assembly polls from Pernem constituency, the incumbent MLA of this constituency, Pravin Arlekar said he is working day and night for the assembly segment.

“It does not make me any difference who would be my opponent at the particular elections,” the MLA said.

Arlekar claimed he has succeeded in creating an impact over Pernem voters, and therefore, Azgaonkar is not posing any challenge before him, but it is the other way round.

Azgaonkar has stated that Arlekar has failed to handle the problems of the Pernem people, and therefore, he has decided to run for the next assembly election for the sake of these people.
