The Sanguem JMFC on Thursday granted bail to Goa Forward Party leaders Meshu D’Costa from Amdoipanto, Sanguem, and Dattaraj Dessai from Assolda, Chandor.

The duo were arrested by the Sanguem police on Wednesday in connection with an FIR alleging misconduct, verbal abuse, threats and deliberate interference with police personnel discharging their official duties inside the Sanguem police station premises.

The court ordered their release subject to specific conditions. Each accused is required to furnish a personal bond of Rs 20,000 along with one local surety of an equivalent amount, both of which have already been provided to the court.

Additionally, they must report to the Sanguem Police Station every morning between 9 am and 1 pm for the next eight days and remain available whenever summoned by the investigating officer.

Further bail stipulations mandate that the accused must fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation, refrain from committing similar offences, submit ID and address proofs, and keep the investigating officer informed of any address changes.

They are also strictly prohibited from tampering with evidence or coercing witnesses. Furthermore, neither individual is permitted to leave the state for a period of 60 days without giving prior notice to the investigating officer.
