They defeat Asher’s Smashers in final

Mapusa: Sparkling Stars emerged as champions in the 5th edition of the Vedanta Ultimate Badminton League (UBL) after a 150-147 win over Asher’s Smashers at the Peddem Indoor Stadium, Mapusa on Sunday.

The tournament saw participation from six teams and over 160 players, including talent from outside the state.

The two-day tournament, organized by the Goa Sports Club and Goa Badminton Association and supported by title sponsor Vedanta Sesa Goa, reaffirmed its stature as a premier event in Goa’s sporting calendar.

The championship decider was a high-stakes affair, with Sparkling Stars relying on the brilliance of Parth Joshi and Om Nandanwar, who were named the “Pair of the Match” for their standout performance. Earlier in the day, Flying

Gravity secured third place with a narrow 150-148 triumph over Ace Raqueteers.
