Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) vice president Sunil Kawthankar filed a complaint before the Governor, requesting for investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the Rs 20 lakh bribery allegations made by former minister Pandurang Madkaikar
“I wish to bring to your urgent attention the recent shocking revelation
made by Madkaikar, who has publicly alleged that he was forced to pay a bribe to get his work done,” stated the complaint.
Kawthankar said that the claim raised grave concerns regarding corruption at the highest levels of governance. This, he said, “demands an immediate impartial, and thorough investigation”.
He urged the Governor to direct the state government to initiate an investigation by the CBI under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
“A fair and independent probe by the CBI will help ascertain the truth, bring the guilty to justice, and restore public confidence in the state’s governance,” he stated in the complaint.
Corruption not only undermines the rule of law but also weakens the democratic fabric of the nation, he said, adding that such allegations, if left unaddressed, will set a dangerous precedent and erode public trust in government institutions.
“Therefore I request your immediate intervention in ensuring that a transparent and unbiased investigation is carried out”, he said.
