Taleigao: Goa College of Engineering (GCE) and GVM’s College registered emphatic victories in the Inter-Collegiate Cricket Men Championship at the Goa University ground in Taleigao on Friday.

In the first match of the day, GCE cruised to a comfortable six-wicket win over Goa Medical College (GMC). After winning the toss and electing to bowl, GCE’s bowlers put on a disciplined display to restrict GMC to 112 in 19.5 overs. Prabhakar Shetye led the charge with figures of 2-16, while Tushar Ghatwal chipped in with 1-14.

Despite a fighting 37 from Adarsh Naik and 18 from Rutvik Gawade, GMC failed to set a competitive total. In reply, GCE chased down the target in 16.5 overs, with Shreyash Usgaonkar top-scoring with 34 and Smit Dalvi contributing 26. Adarsh Naik (2-15) and Rohan Vadyekar (1-16) tried to keep GMC in the contest, but GCE’s composed batting sealed the win. Shreyash Usgaonkar was adjudged the best player for his impactful knock.

In the second match, GVM’s College, Farmagudi, dominated Vidya Prabodhini College, Porvorim, securing a massive 78-run victory. GVM’s opted to bat first and posted a formidable 199/8 in their 20 overs. Daksh Naik’s scintillating 69 and Shubham Shinde’s solid 47 anchored the innings, while Rushil Velingkar (3-35) and Pranav Salunkhe (3-50) were the pick of Prabodhini’s bowlers. Vidya Prabodhini’s chase faltered early as GVM’s bowlers maintained relentless pressure.
