Panaji: Shivendra Bhujbal’s explosive half-century powered Chowgule Global to a dominant eight-wicket win over Salgaocar Cricket Club in the opening match of the Bandodkar League T20 tournament, organised by Panjim Gymkhana on Friday.

Chasing 146, Shivendra blazed 72 off just 35 balls, hitting 7 sixes and 4 boundaries. Alongside Aryan Narvekar (47 off 29 balls), he stitched a 119-run opening partnership, which set the tone for a comfortable chase. Sohraab Dhaliwal (14*) and Ayush Verlekar (11*) saw their team through to 147/2 in 14 overs. Shivendra was adjudged Player of the Match.

Earlier, Chowgule skipper Darshan Misal opted to bowl first. Salgaocar were in trouble at 49/5 before Mayank Rawat (47 off 34 balls; 3×4, 3×6) and Vision Panchal (25; 2×6) added 60 runs for the sixth wicket. Sher Bahadur Yadav (14*) and Pundalik Naik (11) added a valuable 24-run stand to help their side reach 145/7.

Chowgule’s bowling was led by Shubham Tari (3/35), while Chirag Jani returned tight figures of 1/19. Srinivas Fadte and Amit Yadav took a wicket each.

In the second match, Dempo CC were awarded a walkover after Priority Construction MCC failed to report.
