Threat to society, nation, says ANC SP
Panaji: Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) Superintendent of Police (SP) Sunita Sawant on Sunday said drug trafficking and use of drugs is increasing in Goa, mainly among the younger generation.
She was speaking to media persons on Sunday on the occasion of a run against narcotic drugs – a 10-km marathon.
Stating that narcotic drugs are destroying families, society, and is a threat to the nation, Sawant said, “This has to be curbed. It is also not healthy for human beings. You have to see that this drug menace is completely cut down. So the message from ANC is that do not consume drugs and say no to drugs,”
she said.
Urging people to provide any information they may have about drug trafficking on the Manas helpline 1933, Sawant said, “Your identity will be kept secret. Nobody will reveal your identity to anyone. You can give this information and
support us in this sensitisation and awareness drive for curbing crimes related to illicit trafficking. You can confidentially provide the information and we will see to it that it is acted upon,” she said.
“We are creating awareness in schools and among members of the public. We have been going everywhere spreading the message of no drugs – zero tolerance to drugs,” said the Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) Superintendent of Police.
