A 10 tonnes-per-day (TPD) Gasification Technology-based Waste Treatment Plant will be set up at Sonsoddo, Margao, as part of efforts to introduce sustainable waste management solutions. Installation of the plant is expected to be completed by late 2025 or early 2026.
A tripartite agreement for the project was signed between the Margao Municipal Council (MMC), the Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA), and Pune-based firm M/s GD Environmental Pvt Ltd.
“The project represents a progressive step in introducing innovative waste management solutions in Goa and reflects the state’s commitment to sustainable development,” said Gauresh Pilgaonkar, Managing Director of GEDA.
The plant aims to address Margao’s issue of mixed solid waste while reducing dependence on landfills through environmentally friendly technology.
“The initiative will help resolve long-pending waste management challenges at Sonsoddo and ensure a cleaner, healthier Margao,” said the MMC Chief Officer.
The plant will operate under the management of GEDA, with M/s GD Environmental Pvt Ltd responsible for fabrication and installation. The agreement was signed in the presence of Pilgaonkar, Narvekar, and representatives of M/s GD Environmental Pvt Ltd.
