Goa Police marched into Duler Stadium on Monday and imposed complete authority, dismantling Vasco SC 7–1 in the Goa Professional League.
Goa Police drew first blood in the 36th minute when Mayuresh Naik sent in a low cross that found Satyam Kankonkar, who finished on the first touch to give his side the lead.
Moments later, Goa Police doubled the advantage when Mayuresh was brought down inside the box by the Vasco goalkeeper. Kunal Salgaonkar stepped up
and calmly slotted the penalty into the bottom-left corner, sending his team into halftime with a two-goal cushion.
Goa Police kept the momentum after the restart. Mayuresh threaded a through ball to Vaibhav Naik on the right, who brought it under control, drove past his marker, and smashed home their third.
Vasco pulled one back when Joywin Costa laid the ball off to Velington Almeida outside the box. Velington took a touch and unleashed a long-range strike that flew into the net, reducing the deficit to 3–1.
Fueled by the goal Vasco pushed hard to net another.
But Goa Police quickly restored their margin. Mayuresh Naik dribbled from the halfway line, glided past Vasco defender Michael Silva, and fired home to make it 4–1.
The onslaught continued as Deepak Naik intercepted a pass in his own half and embarked on a solo run, weaving through defenders before rounding the goalkeeper and finishing calmly for goal number five.
Goa Police added a sixth when Kunal Salgaonkar was brought down at the edge of the box. Kunal took the resulting free kick himself, curling it around the wall and leaving the Vasco goalkeeper rooted as he secured his brace.
Deep into stoppage time, Goa Police capped the rout on a counterattack. Kunal carried the ball from his own half and slipped a through pass to Mayuresh Naik, who controlled, dribbled into space, and buried it into the bottom-left corner to seal an 7–1 victory.
Goa Police’s striker Kunal Salgaonkar was awarded the Man of the Match by Babli Mandrekar.
