A minor boy from a Mapusa-based school who claimed that an attempt was made to kidnap him was found to have fabricated the story to avoid going to school as he feared being scolded for not completing an assignment, police investigation revealed.
According to information, the minor told his parents that on Thursday morning, while on his way to school, three masked men appeared before him, sprayed powder on his face and that he ran away in fear. He claimed that he later felt dizzy, fell asleep by the roadside and, after waking up, contacted his parents from a shop. Following this, the parents approached the Mapusa police. However, police inquiry revealed that the student had travelled by bus to Porvorim with three classmates, visited a mall and returned home in the afternoon. It was later found that he had invented the kidnapping story to explain his absence from school. The student subsequently confessed to fabricating the incident.
