A day after the Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Ashutosh Apte, withdrew the permission and no-objection certificates granted to 13 branches of the Tirumalla Tirupati Multistate Co-operative Credit Society, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday directed representatives of the society to urgently submit documents addressing the queries raised by the Registrar of Co-operative Societies.

Representatives of the credit society met the Chief Minister on Wednesday and sought to place their views before him. Sawant told reporters that the government would study the matter after the relevant papers and reports were submitted.

Asked about assurances to account holders regarding their deposits and investments, he said he would first verify the documents.

The withdrawal of permission and NOCs has triggered panic among thousands of people in Goa who have invested in the society.

Meanwhile, Cooperation Minister Subhash Shirodkar said that representatives of the credit society have been called for discussions on February 6, noting that the society had failed to comply with repeated notices issued between 2023 and November 2025.

He said the impact on account holders would depend on the society’s current financial position.

The cancellation of NOCs has led to widespread concern among account holders of the co-operative bank.

Separately, the Panaji branch of the credit society has written to the Registrar of Co-operative Societies seeking withdrawal of the show-cause notice and revocation of the suspension of its NOC.

In a letter submitted on Wednesday, society representative Diptesh Sawant apologised for earlier delays in submitting documents and requested reinstatement of the NOC.
