Patil claims Rangarajan memorial chess title

Chicalim: Rajveer Patil of Mata Secondary School clinched the 4th TS Rangarajan Memorial Rapid Chess Tournament at Regina Mundi School.

Rajveer topped a competitive field of 113 players, with Rishit Gawas of PMS Kendriya Vidyalaya, Vasco finishing second. Aarav Chopedekar (NCS Chicalim) took third place, followed by Erwin Albuquerque and Sholk Mesta. Rudra Nagarsekar, Sidh Rane, Chaitanya Patil, Shanvi Redkar and Arthav Shirodakar rounded off the top ten.

The tournament was organised under the aegis of the Mormugao Taluka Chess Association.

In the boys’ sections, Ojas Kamat and Pranav Manjrekar led U-7, Pradhyam Malvankar and Aarav Nagueshkar topped U-9, Shresth Ghonsekar and Tanush Rane dominated U-11, while Rhys Carvalho and Vipul Kadam impressed in U-13.

Among girls, Srisha Mesta and Anushree Dessai won U-7, Shreesha Ghadi and Aaradhya Dessai topped U-9, Aadhya Mesta and Drisha Ghonge claimed U-11 honours, while Aarna Sawant and Anvi Parab led U-13.

At the prize ceremony, St Joseph School, Vasco secured the Champion School Award, while Naval Children School, Chicalim earned the Best School Representation Award.
