Indo-Swedish marine tech initiative launched in Goa

The governments and industry partners of MJP Waterjets India and Sweden, on Saturday, announced the launch of an Indo-Swedish joint marine technology initiative aimed at strengthening co-operation in advanced maritime systems, sustainable ocean technologies and next-generation naval innovation.

Director General Paramesh Sivamani, AVSM, PTM, TM; Director General of the Indian Coast Guard, and Inspector General Sudhir Sahni, TM, who serves as Deputy Director General (M&M), Indian Coast Guard inaugurated the MJP India facility in Goa. The initiative will focus on research, development and deployment of advanced marine solutions, including autonomous maritime platforms and shipbuilding processes designed to address emerging maritime security and environmental challenges.

Officials said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to maritime security, blue economy opportunities and sustainable ocean resource management. The programme will also promote academic and industrial exchanges, joint testing facilities and co-development pathways to accelerate commercialisation of marine waterjets for defence and civilian sectors.

Senior officials from the Indian Coast Guard, Indian Navy, shipyards and industry said the partnership strengthens strategic ties and supports the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives.
