Ponda

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has assured Griha Aadhar Scheme beneficiaries that henceforth the
assistance amount would
be credited on the 10th of every month.

Sawant said Goa is among the leading states in the country in the implementation of citizen-driven welfare schemes, stating that
nearly 40 per cent of the state’s population is directly benefiting from the Griha Aadhar Scheme.

The Chief Minister was addressing a Griha Aadhaar camp organised by the Women and Child Welfare Department at Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir in Ponda. He said the government has been prioritising Ponda for major initiatives such as Sarkar Tumchya Daari, PM Surya Ghar Yojana, RDA schemes and Griha Aadhaar camps. He said that the government’s aim is to improve the happiness index of Goans through welfare schemes.

Sawant said that in Ponda, 4,500 beneficiaries are covered under the scheme, while around 1,400 women could not receive benefits due to non-submission of required documents. He said the issues would be streamlined at the camp itself and that the government is working to resolve pending cases to ensure eligible women receive support without delay. He also urged citizens to participate in the “Clean Goa, Green Goa” campaign.

When asked about MLA Viresh Borkar’s protest against Section 39A of the TCP Act, the Chief Minister declined to comment.

Water Resources Minister Subhash Shirodkar appealed to officials of the Women and Child Department to avoid pendency of applications, stating that the Griha Aadhaar scheme is a support system for needy families in the state.

Among those present were PMC chairperson Virendra Dhavalikar, Curti-Khandepar sarpanch Naved Tashildar, Kala Mandir chairman Ritesh Naik and ZP member Gauri Shirodkar.
