Goa Veterans outclassed Mumbai by 35 runs in their league clash of the All India West Zone Veterans T20 Cricket Tournament at Nanded on Friday.
Asked to bat, Goa Veterans posted 159 for 8 in 20 overs with useful contributions down the order. Vikas Dessai top-scored with 32 off 28 balls, while Damodar Redkar added 27 from 29 deliveries.
Muktar Kadri struck a brisk 26 off 17 balls and Rajendra Dabholkar chipped in with a quick 26 from 16 deliveries. Siddesh Alvekar provided the late flourish with an 11-run cameo off just six balls.
For Mumbai, Rajendra Chopra (2/29), Rajesh Nambair (2/26) and Raj Mohi (2/25) claimed two wickets each.
In reply, Mumbai were bowled out for 124 in 18 overs. Raviraj Dhuri top-scored with 27 off 24 balls, while Aman Padhye made 15 off nine balls and Kailash Pandey contributed 12.
Goa’s bowlers maintained steady pressure with Muktar Kadri finishing with 2 for 31, while Sahil Dhuri (2/17), Basu Madar (2/27) and Prasad Patil (2/31) also picked up two wickets each.
Kadri was named Man of the Match for his all-round performance. Goa Veterans will next face Maharashtra in a crucial league match tomorrow.
