The state government has launched the ‘Career Udaan’ flyer featuring a QR code that provides instant access to the Career Compass handbook, aimed at strengthening career awareness and digital accessibility for
students.
Developed by the Goa State Higher Education Council (GSHEC), the Career Compass is a comprehensive digital guide designed to assist students, parents and teachers in making informed career choices after Class XII. The handbook covers a wide range of opportunities, including career pathways, competitive examinations and scholarship options in India and abroad.
The launch function was attended by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Secretary (Education) Prasad Lolayekar, Director of Higher Education Bhushan Sawaikar, Director of Education Shailesh Zingde, GSCERT Director Meghna Shetgaonkar and Dr Mahadev Gawas of GSHEC.
Dr Gawas said the initiative stands out for its interactive digital format, allowing users to download the e-book free of cost by scanning the QR code on the flyer. He added that the handbook includes live links to entrance exams, institutions and scholarship portals, enabling seamless navigation and access to verified information.
He further said the government has ensured wide outreach by distributing the flyer across schools, higher secondary institutions, panchayats, municipalities and public spaces to make it accessible to households across the state.
Describing it as part of the government’s broader vision to democratise access to career information, he said the initiative has received a positive response from students and parents for its clarity, depth and ease of use.
