RGP office row escalates, Kholkar challenges Borkar’s authority

Panaji: Uncertainty prevailed over the order issued by Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) national president Viresh Borkar placing the party’s temporary office at Gera Imperium Grand, Patto, Panaji, under his exclusive administrative control, after a group of RGP members led by party treasurer Ajay Kholkar said on Sunday that the order was unauthorised.

Kholkar also stated that the recent orders issued by Borkar regarding his suspension as RGP treasurer, the suspension of general secretary Vishvesh Naik, and the dissolution of all existing state, district, taluka, block, ward and other organisational committees had no meaning as “Borkar is not a national president of the party”.

Kholkar alleged that Borkar was taking such steps intentionally so that the party would terminate his membership, allowing him to join another political party.

“Sealing the office and pasting notices on the office door is unauthorised. The so-called national president (Borkar) says the temporary office is at Patto, but sadly he is not aware that this is the registered party office,” Kholkar said.

Kholkar stated that the process to initiate disciplinary action against Borkar was underway and that action would be taken. He also warned Borkar to mend his ways.

“Last time we are telling you… avengers are ready and the end game has started. Your time is over,” Kholkar said.

Meanwhile, St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar stated that various measures had been adopted to strengthen the party following concerns raised by RGP founding members over the party’s future due to what he described as an unwarranted social media tirade against the party by its own members.

Borkar also stated that suspension orders were issued after certain funds from the party’s bank account were withdrawn without authorisation.

Responding to the allegation, Kholkar said, “I am the treasurer. Two days ago there were Rs 1.20 lakh in the account, out of which Rs 40,000 was withdrawn for party expenses.”
