Their half-centuries help Goa reach 174/4 in reply to Vidarbha’s 393
Panaji: Goa skipper Snehal Kauthankar’s unbeaten 62 kept his side’s hopes alive after Vidarbha posted 393 in their first innings on the second day of the Dr (Capt) Thimmappiah Memorial Cricket Tournament at the IAF Ground Bengaluruon Tuesday.
Vidarbha, resuming at 310/4, were bowled out for 393 in 107.3 overs, with overnight batter Danish Malewar completing his century before being dismissed for 106 by Darshan Misal.
Misal was Goa’s most successful bowler with 3/84, while Ruthvik Naik, Felix Alemao and Samit Aryan Mishra claimed two wickets each.
Goa reached 174/4 in 56 overs by stumps, trailing by 219 runs. Kauthankar remained unbeaten after holding the innings together, with Yash Kasvankar unbeaten on two.
Lalit Yadav struck a useful 53 before being dismissed, while Shivendra Bhujbal made 24. Nachiket Bhute was Vidarbha’s most successful bowler, taking 3/43, while Darshan Nalkande claimed one wicket.
Goa also lost Suyash Prabhudessai for nine and Manthan Khutkar for six.
With a sizeable deficit still to erase, Goa will look to Kauthankar and Kasvankar to carry the innings forward on the third day.
