Panaji: Goa’s bowlers were made to toil as Raj Raghwani’s unbeaten 142 put Gujarat in a strong position at 383/7 on the opening day of the Men’s U-23 Multidays Practice League match at Gujarat College Cricket Ground A on Wednesday.

Gujarat were rocked early after Maulyarajsinh Chavda was dismissed for a duck in the opening over, but Malay V Shah and Manas Dave steadied the innings with half-centuries. Shah made 70 off 119 balls, while Dave added 51 from 73.

Goa fought back in the middle session, picking up regular wickets to reduce Gujarat to 210/7. Rahul Vishwakarma, Deep Kasvankar and Anuj Yadav claimed two wickets apiece, but Raghwani then took the game away from Goa.

The Gujarat batter counter-attacked in style, striking 10 fours and seven sixes in his 150-ball unbeaten knock.

He found a willing partner in Kavyan Patel, who remained unbeaten on 59.

The pair added an unbroken 173 for the eighth wicket, leaving Goa with a challenging task.
