Panaji: Stating that AAP is good at “twisting and turning things,” state BJP president Damodar Naik said on Sunday that the BJP has 4.5 lakh members in Goa and 14 crore across the country, but its members have never created chaos by entering any party offices.

Naik was reacting to AAP-Goa’s criticism of the BJP over social media remarks linked to protests following the attack on activist Rama Kankonkar. AAP leaders had said the BJP’s tweet amounted to intimidation against those raising their voice against the government’s failures.

“They are good at twisting and turning things. During the protests they came to the BJP office. Who gave them the right to enter the office? It is a trespass,” Naik said, condemning the entry of agitators into the BJP city office during Friday’s protest.

Naik said that he has been in politics for several years and never saw anyone forcefully enter another party’s office. “BJP has 4.5 lakh members in Goa and there are 14 crore members in the country. However, our members never created such chaos by entering any party offices,” he said.

“We have done protests, morchas but till date we have not entered anyone’s offices. They came here to the office. There is staff which includes women. Such things should not happen. Instead of telling others to behave they should look at themselves first. Don’t trespass in anyone’s offices,” Naik said.

He said that while protests and morchas were not an issue, what happened on Friday was wrong. “They came to our office, who is the mastermind behind entering our office?” Naik also said he had condemned the brutal attack on Rama Kankonkar. “I also made the statement on the day of the incident. Who is behind it, why did it happen, and that the police are investigating it,” he said.
