Residents of Siolim and Baga celebrated Sao Joao, the feast of St John the Baptist, yesterday with traditional Sangodd boat parades, processions, music and the customary practice of jumping into wells and other water bodies.
Participants wore floral headgear known as ‘kopels’, while groups took part in the observance aboard decorated floats.
The annual festival attracts visitors from other parts of Goa as well as tourists.
