Senior citizens engage in workshop at Sanquelim

YUVA Panaji, in collaboration with the Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Goa, organised a one-day senior citizens’ workshop at Sanquelim, in which over 70 senior citizens from Sanquelim and nearby areas participated.

Chairperson of Padmini Foundation Sulakshana Sawant attended as the chief guest. Members of YUVA Panaji including founder Raghuvir Mahale, president Aman Bhandare, vice president Vaman Sankhalker, and Diksha Panvelkar were also present.

Sawant highlighted the need to acknowledge and honour the lifelong dedication and hard work of senior citizens and encouraged them to begin living for themselves,

pursue their interests, and actively engage in social life beyond their routine responsibilities.

The workshop featured informative sessions on digital and financial literacy, aimed at educating senior citizens about online safety, avoiding clickbait traps, and protecting themselves from financial frauds and scams. An Ayurveda wellness session was conducted by Dr. Tanmayee Kerkar, focusing on natural and preventive healthcare practices.

One of the highlights of the day was the hands-on Kokedama plant-making activity. A session on kinetic and mental skills was also held.

Official from the Directorate of Social Welfare Shashikant Narvekar briefed participants on various government schemes and measures available for senior citizens ensuring their awareness and accessibility.
