14-yr-old Guirim student dies after hockey ball strikes head

Calangute: A 14-year-old student, Ruisha Sudhir Kharsel, died on Thursday after being struck in the head by a hockey ball during a practice session at St Anthony’s High School, Monte de Guirim.

According to Saligao police, the incident occurred around 1:06 pm when Kharsel, a resident of Agni Wado, Guirim, was participating in a school training session. She was accidentally hit, sustaining serious injuries. The victim was immediately rushed to the North Goa District Hospital in Mapusa; however, doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. The body has since been preserved at the Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital morgue in Bambolim for medico-legal formalities.

Saligao police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
