Minister for Transport and Industries Mauvin Godinho on Tuesday attended the Round Table Conference on Swachh Bharat Mission–Grameen (SBM-G) Progress and Next Phase at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, where discussions focused on Open Defecation Free (ODF) Plus villages, greywater, and solid waste management.

In a step towards promoting rural sanitation and sustainability, Godinho spoke about Goa’s vision for a Swachh Bharat.

The event brought together key stakeholders to review the Mission’s progress and future directions. Innovative initiatives such as GOBARdhan biogas plants were showcased, demonstrating the potential for sustainable waste management and renewable energy generation.

Godinho assured Goa’s support in shaping the future direction of the Mission and said that the state’s experiences and best practices would be shared with other
states.

The next phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission is expected to significantly impact rural areas in Goa by improving sanitation facilities, promoting hygiene, and raising the overall quality of life for residents. Its focus on sustainability and waste management will also contribute to Goa’s environmental conservation efforts.
