Panaji: Club Mahindra has denied allegations that its resort in Assonora discharges untreated wastewater or sewage into the Par River, stating that the allegations are factually incorrect and have no basis.
The company issued the clarification following media reports linking Club Mahindra to pollution of the Par River.
The company spokesperson said a sanitary inspection was conducted at the Assonora resort by the Directorate of Health Services following certain complaints. The authorities concluded that no such issues were observed during the inspection, the spokesperson said.
The inspection report stated that the resort has a functioning sewage treatment plant and that no direct release of waste was observed from the resort. It also stated that there was no sanitary issue with the resort as of date, the spokesperson said.
The company said the resort follows established protocols for the treatment, handling and disposal of wastewater and sewage in compliance with applicable environmental laws and regulatory requirements, supported by documented records.
The spokesperson said the company had requested stakeholders to rely on verified information and refrain from circulating unsubstantiated claims that could adversely affect the reputation of Club Mahindra.
The company said it remained committed to environmental responsibility and transparency and would engage constructively with the relevant authorities on any concerns regarding the resort’s operations.
