Ahead of the Shri Lairai Devi Annual Jatra at Shirgao commencing from April 21, North Collector Ankit Yadav held a special meeting with dhond devotees, members of the devasthan committee, panchayat representatives and officials of government departments at the temple hall.

North Goa authorities have intensified safety and crowd management measures for the festival. One-way movement, staggered entry and designated holding areas have been introduced to regulate the flow of devotees and manage
the crowd.

The collector appealed
for cooperation to ensure that the festival is conducted in a safe and smooth manner.

A special task force has been constituted to ensure implementation of safety measures and oversee overall arrangements for the jatra. Bicholim Deputy Collector Shubham Naik has issued notices to officials of various departments, including PWD, Police, Transport, Fire and Emergency Services, as well as the panchayat and devasthan committee. The Bicholim mamlatdar will head the task force. The notice states that
strict protocols must be
followed and necessary works implemented to prevent any mishaps during the jatra celebrations.
