The Mapusa Additional Sessions Court on Wednesday granted permission to the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) to record the statements of the accused, including the Luthra brothers, their co-partner Ajay Gupta, dismissed panchayat secretary Raghuvir Bagkar and former sarpanch Roshan Redkar, in connection with a case registered under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

An application was moved by ED seeking permission to interrogate and record the statements of Saurabh Luthra, Gaurav Luthra, Ajay Gupta, Bagkar and Redkar  who have been booked in connection with the Prevention of Money Laundering case linked to the Birch by Romeo Lane fire.

During the hearing, special public prosecutor Siddharth Samant, appearing for the Enforcement Directorate, argued in support of the application and said permission may be granted to record the statements of the accused, who are currently in judicial custody.

He said permission may be granted for a period of five days to visit the accused in judicial custody and record their statements.
