The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Goa unit has set an ambitious target to increase its vote share from the current 33.36 percent to 52 percent in the 2027 Goa legislative assembly elections. The party is also aiming to win over 27 seats in the 40-member assembly.
Speaking at the North Goa BJP active karyakarta sammelan held in Panaji on Wednesday, BJP Goa president Damodar ‘Damu’ Naik said the achievement of this target would depend on the hard work and dedication of party workers. “If we want to win 27 seats, then we have to increase our vote share from the current 33.36 percent to 52 percent in the 2027 assembly polls. This will only be possible with the dedication of our karyakartas,” Naik said.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that achieving the 52 percent vote share was crucial for the party’s broader national goals. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working to make India a developed country by 2047, when the nation will celebrate its 100th year of Independence. To strengthen Modi’s vision, it is the responsibility of party workers to ensure we win 27 assembly seats in 2027, which will help us secure over 300 seats in the next Lok Sabha elections,” Sawant said.
The Chief Minister said it was important to take the achievements of the ‘double-engine government’—at the Centre and in Goa—to the people. He also urged party workers to actively counter opposition posts on social media that target the government and its leadership.
