Margao

Margao Block Congress Committee convener Savio Coutinho submitted a representation to Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge alleging “mass deletion of 1,39,634 voters” in the state during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and sought the intervention of the AICC in the matter.

Coutinho met Kharge at his residence and handed over a representation on the deletion matter. A similar set of documents was also submitted at the office of Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.

Briefing Kharge, Coutinho said the SIR
was misused to target
traditional Congress and non-BJP voters. Referring to the deletion of 1,39,634 names, he stated, “Considering 50 per cent of them were genuine voters, it averages 1,750 voters per constituency, enough to overturn results in Goa’s small seats.”

Among the demands placed before the AICC were intervention with the ECI for a fresh summary revision in Goa before December 2026,  legal support to file a writ petition for the re-inclusion of deleted voters, and deputation of an AICC team to Goa to activate all 40 block committees for booth-level voter restoration.

Kharge reviewed the note and annexures and assured that Congress would fight to protect every Goans right to vote.
