On Tuesday, residents of the Naga Masjid area in Curti, along with Kushawati District Congress President Rajesh Verenkar, met Electricity Department Executive Engineer (EE) Sudan Kunkalienkar over frequent power fluctuations affecting the locality during the night over the past three months.
During the meeting, Verenkar also questioned the implementation of smart meters amid the ongoing power supply issues.
“The fluctuations are primarily due to feeder overload caused by the increasing population and rising power demand in the area,” said Kunkalienkar.
He said that the department is making arrangements to divert part of the load to another feeder. “Once the load is redistributed, the power fluctuation issue is expected to be resolved,” said Kunkalienkar.
Verenkar also alleged that underground cabling works in parts of the town have come to a halt due to ongoing road hotmixing works.
“This shows a lack of coordination and planning by the government agencies concerned,” he said.
Criticising the BJP-led government, Verenkar said that public dissatisfaction over basic civic issues, including electricity supply, is growing. He said that voters would hold the government accountable in the coming months.
