French tourist found dead in rented Arambol room

Pernem: A 77-year-old French national, Marie Cochet, was found motionless in a rented room at Arambol and was later declared dead by a doctor at the Community Health Centre, Pernem.

Mandrem police said the woman had arrived in Goa on vacation three days prior to her death.

Police said they received a call from PCR Panaji stating that a foreign woman was not opening the door of her rented room at Socoilo Vaddo, Arambol.

LPSI Archana Sharma visited the spot and found the woman lying motionless on the bed. She was shifted to CHC Tuem for medical assistance, where the doctor on duty declared her ‘brought dead’. The body has been preserved at Goa Medical College and Hospital. Further inquiry is in progress, police said.
