Even as some ministers and ruling MLAs have reportedly objected to the system of job recruitment through the Goa Staff Selection Commission, the state government led by the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has filled over 1,100 posts in group ‘C’ in various departments through new recruiting body till date.

As per information available, the commission has selected 1,117 candidates for various posts such as panchayat secretary, lower division clerk, teacher, accountant, laboratory assistant etc. Out of 1,117, the selected candidates 607 are from North Goa and 510 from South Goa.

The Goa Staff Selection Commission (GSSC) was established under the GSSC Act, 2019, to conduct fair, transparent, and objective examinations for recruiting to Group ‘C’ subordinate posts in government departments, autonomous bodies, and organisations. Its primary objectives include streamlining the recruitment process for non-gazetted, non-technical positions.

The commission has advertised over 700 posts in various categories including police sub inspectors for current calendar year and process for recruitment is under way.
