With over 60,000 registered micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the state and many among them facing difficulty in supplying components and equipments to large companies the government announced a buyer-seller meet on April 11, for large and small industry to come together and do business.

The buyer and seller meet during the week is the first in the pipeline being organised by the government to improve the MSME ecosystem and provides employment opportunities to local Goans, said industry secretary, Suneel Anchipaka, on Tuesday.

He said that, the meeting will provide one-to-one opportunity for smaller units to interact with large industry and understand the market as well as supply according to product specifications.

“Local MSMEs are already selling products to large manufacturers, however the interaction will help them to sell their products in a better manner,” said Anchipaka.

“MNCs with product requirements must give first priority to local units,” said the industry secretary. Urging local MSMEs to participate in the meet, he explained that, the buyer-seller platform would ensure that products are made as per industry demand and sold within the Goan ecosystem.

“The meet is on pilot basis. Plans are to do it every month,” said Anchipaka, speaking in the presence of director of industries Asvin Chandru, and Siemens Ltd., Goa, general manager and CII Goa, vice chairman, Mahendra Wani.

Siemens Ltd, Goa, is the primary large industry participating in the upcoming buyer-seller meet at Taj Vivanta, Panaji, along with other companies. “Siemens is in the process of expanding capacity in the state at a total investment of Rs 333 crore.  The company would like to make Goan MSMES a part of the growth journey. The capacity expansion is good for youth and also for local job creation,” said Wani.

He said that, Siemens is in Goa for the last 25 years in Verna industrial estate, and is operating five factories.
