In a strategic move aligning tourism infrastructure with national initiatives, the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) to facilitate the use of GTDC’s Farmagudi Residency for the Cyber Commando Training Programme.

Describing the agreement as a proud moment for the Corporation, GTDC Chairman Ganesh Gaonkar said, ā€œBy opening up the Farmagudi Residency for the Cyber Commando Training Programme, we are demonstrating how our properties can support both tourism and key national initiatives. This step promotes Goa’s hinterland and aligns with our ā€˜Goa Beyond Beaches’ campaign. The upcoming NFSU campus in my constituency will further reinforce these efforts and be a milestone for Goa.ā€

GTDC managing director Kuldeep Arolkar echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the collaboration as a meaningful example of adaptive use of tourism assets. ā€œThrough this partnership, GTDC is contributing to a national objective while showcasing the versatility and value of our properties,ā€ he said.

GTDC expects the collaboration to yield multiple benefits. Apart from boosting tourism in Goa’s lesser-explored interiors, the initiative will leverage NFSU’s expertise to conduct advanced training programmes, thereby enhancing the state’s cybersecurity infrastructure.

ā€œThis collaboration between GTDC and NFSU represents a forward-looking step in integrating tourism infrastructure with national priorities, while also promoting sustainable and diversified tourism in Goa,ā€ a GTDC spokesperson said.

The MoU was formally signed by NFSU Director Prof Naveen Kumar Chaudhary and GTDC General Manager (Marketing) Hotels, Gavin Dias.
