The four-member fact-finding committee headed by the retired High Court judge RMS Khandeparkar appointed to probe the paper leak case at Goa University has submitted its report to the state  government.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant confirmed that the panel has submitted its findings and stated that the report has been forwarded to the education secretary.

It is pertinent to note that the Assistant Professor at the School of Physical and Applied Sciences of the Goa University, Pranav Naik was suspended, and a complaint was filed at the Agacaim police station after allegations surfaced that he had stolen and leaked a Master’s physics exam question paper to a female student.

This in turn led to an internal fact-finding inquiry, followed by the setting up of the high-level government investigation panel headed by Justice (retd) Khandeparkar.  The panel report however has not yet been made public.

Social activist Kashinath Shetye, who had filed the complaint with the police, claimed that according to the fact-finding committee report, the Goa University Assistant Professor had committed theft of papers to help a female student, adding that  the Vice-Chancellor as also the Registrar must face action for delay in taking action.

“The fact-finding panel has exposed the truth and the Assistant Professor should be terminated from service,” he maintained, adding that that the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar acted only after public uproar and the delay in their action points to the political pressure.
