In response to complaints from local residents about sewage discharge near the ITI and Borda areas, Goa Forward Party (GFP) chief and local MLA Vijai Sardesai conducted an inspection on Wednesday, directing Margao Municipal Council (MMC) authorities to identify the leakages and devise a solution within six days.

“We had initially proposed a redevelopment plan for these areas, including the ITI and playgrounds, but the government chose to relocate the ITI elsewhere. Following complaints from residents about sewage leakages, I have instructed the MMC engineer to identify the source of the leaks and determine which hotels are discharging sewage into the nullahs. I have given a six-day deadline to complete the process,” Sardesai said, adding that efforts were also being made to resolve ramp-related issues in the area.

Sardesai also raised concerns over the incre-
asing number of roadside gaddas in Fatorda, blam-
ing the MMC administration for failing to maintain order.  “I will not accept this disorderly situation in my constituency,” he said.

On the controversy surrounding the use of the top floors of the South Goa District Hospital, Sardesai criticised the conflicting statements by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane. While Sawant had indicated plans for a medical college, Rane announced the establishment of a nursing college on the same floors.

“I urge both of them to hold discussions before making public declarations about their plans,” Sardesai said.
