Nuvem gram sabha, on Sunday, passed a resolution calling for a moratorium on multi-family housing complexes in the village, citing concerns about the impact of such developments on  the carrying capacity of the area.

During the meeting, villagers discussed the strain that rapid and unplanned development is placing on local infrastructure, resources, and the environment, and called for a comprehensive assessment of carrying capacity to prevent further ecological degradation

A resolution, proposed by Carmelito Andrade, sought to halt the issuance of licences for new multi-family housing projects until the state government formally defines and declares Nuvem’s carrying capacity.

Traffic management was another key issue raised, with the villagers flagging frequent traffic jams near the Honda showroom due to the placement of traffic signals. The gram sabha resolved to pursue the relocation of these signals to a more suitable location.

The meeting, chaired by sarpanch Freda D’Sa, also saw the annual accounts for the financial year 2024–25 being accepted after a deliberation.

Additionally, members raised the issue of the existing pay structure for panchayat staff and recommended that salaries be revised to meet the minimum wage structure.
