Panaji: Motorists can expect traffic restrictions and diversions on key routes from September 5 to 7 as Union Home Minister Amit Shah visits Goa to attend the Western Zonal Council meeting and other programmes, including the presentation of the President’s Colour to the Goa Police.
According to the Traffic Police advisory, restrictions on September 5 will affect the Dabolim Airport–Dona Paula route from 8.30 pm to 10 pm. On September 6, traffic will be regulated on the Dona Paula–Kadamba Plateau, Chimbel route from 3.30 to 5 pm and 5.30 to 7 pm.
On September 7, restrictions will apply between Dona Paula and Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Taleigao, from 2.30 to 3.30 pm, and from the stadium to Dabolim Airport between 4.30 and 6 pm.
For airport-bound commuters, police have advised using the Verna–MES Junction–Vales Junction–Dabolim Airport route, wherever applicable. Passengers have also been urged to leave early and allow sufficient additional travel time. “The general public and motorists are requested not to park their vehicles along the VVIP route,” the advisory said, urging motorists to follow instructions of Traffic Police personnel.
Traffic restrictions will not apply to ambulances carrying patients and other emergency vehicles.
